Frequency Of Visiting Moths

For a full guide to Visiting Moths, click here.

How often do Visiting Moths actually visit? My first Visiting Moth appeared in my guest account after I reached a Flutterpedia score of 1200. Thereafter, I logged all Visiting Moths over a month and found out that Evanita W Montalvo's observations about Visiting Moths are pretty accurate. She stated that:

  1. Visiting Moths will visit again the next day if you buy an egg
  2. Visiting Moths takes 4 days to re-visit you if you do not buy an egg  (UPDATE: Visiting Moths will now appear in your forests 24 hours after the previous visit, regardless of egg purchases.)
  3. Visiting Moths stay away from events

-------The following text is now outdated-------

Here is a calendar with all dates of Visiting Moths marked (during March 2017). A Glowbuck symbol represents that the particular Visiting Moth has been paid to lay an egg in the forest.

Sona Event Starts & Ends at 6AM, +8GMT

It took about 4 days for me to get another Visiting Moth if I did not buy an egg, but if I do buy one, another Visiting Moth would appear the very next day. I also did not get any visitors during events.

It seems like in order for Visiting Moths to appear in your forest, it does not matter much if you actually log into the game or not. I did not log into my game on 9th March (unchecked box in the calendar), however I still had a Visiting Moth on the 12th after a 4-day window period.

Here are the specific details of each Visiting Moth (+8 GMT Timezone):

4 March 2017, 0839 Hours

8 March 2017, 1352 Hours

12 March 2017, 2137 Hours
(Bought)
Reduced price due to half-price Egg Laying event

13 March 2017, 2306 Hours

30 March 2017, 1012 Hours
(Bought)

31 March 2017, 1027 Hours
(Bought)

Sona Event Flower Drop Rates

From a sample size of 160 event fireflies, here are the drop rates for each flower according to their rarity:

Common Event Flowers - 49 (30.63%)

Uncommon Event Flowers - 45 (28.13%)

Rare Event Flowers - 32 (20%)

Epic Event Flowers - 20 (12.5%)

Legendary Event Flowers - 14 (8.75%)

Fireflies spawn rate for the Sona event is 4 purple fireflies after a 3 hour flush.

The above data is collected after I completed the event and sold all my existing flowers. This means that I started to collect event fireflies from scratch.

I assume that the numbers reflect the true drop rates of event flowers, but do note that results vary across players. (While I was perfecting my set there was once I actually got 4 Lime Hawkmoth flowers in a row!) This guide is just to help you get a realistic expectation of how active you need to be during a firefly event in order to complete it.

The more Egg-Layers you have, the lesser time and Glowbucks you need to spend on the event. Try to earn an Egg-Layer the next time Runaway releases an event with one!

Flower Drop Rates From Normal Fireflies

After I posted about the drop rates of flowers from Toad Delicacies, Bethany Harris-Cooper from Flutter DYNASTY suggested that we should observe the flower drop rates from normal fireflies!

*** Challenge Accepted~! ***

For the past month or so, both of us collected about a thousand fireflies each and fed them to Trevor. I sold off all my existing flowers before starting on the experiment, so it will be easier to grab the final numbers off my flora inventory. However, Bethany painstakingly recorded each result in order! (Hats off to her~!) She is interested to find out how often rarer flowers drop consecutively back to back.

Here are our tabulated results. Numbers are rounded to the nearest decimal point.

From a sample size of 1013 Fireflies by Bethany Harris-Cooper:

  • Polilla - 74              (7.30%)
  • Hoshi - 75              (7.40%)
  • Silva - 58                (5.73%)
  • Hawkmoth - 38      (3.75%)
  • Apoyo - 20             (1.97%)
  • Chausiku - 18         (1.78%)
  • Estrella - 24            (2.37%)
  • Mythic - 11             (1.09%)
  • Common - 166       (16.39%)
  • Uncommon - 118   (11.65%)
  • Rare - 36                (3.55%)
  • Epic - 12                (1.18%)
  • Legendary - 5        (0.49%)
  • Small - 135             (13.33%)
  • Medium - 168        (16.58%)
  • Large - 28              (2.76%)
  • Lunar - 27              (2.67%)
Click here if you want to see her detailed drops in order of occurrence.

From a sample size of 1011 Fireflies by AuroraNights Nami:
  • Polilla - 60              (5.93%)
  • Hoshi - 65               (6.43%)
  • Silva - 55                (5.44%)
  • Hawkmoth - 45      (4.45%)
  • Apoyo - 11              (1.09%)
  • Chausiku - 23         (2.27%)
  • Estrella - 21            (2.08%)
  • Mythic - 27            (2.67%)
  • Common - 158       (15.63%)
  • Uncommon - 124   (12.27%)
  • Rare - 44                (4.35%)
  • Epic - 10                (0.99%)
  • Legendary - 2        (0.20%)
  • Small - 125             (12.36%)
  • Medium - 196        (19.39%)
  • Large - 26              (2.57%)
  • Lunar - 19              (1.88%)

It seems that our numbers are fairly consistent with each other. Bethany seems to have better odds at getting the more important flowers, while I am not as lucky and I tend to get more mediocre ones.

I guess it is safe to assume that the percentages above reflect the true drop rates of the flowers in Starlight rather accurately. However, do digest these numbers with a pinch of salt as results do vary across players. You may experience similar or different scenarios, if you have your own numbers to share, we'd love to hear from you~! :D

Once again, thank you Bethany for this awesome suggestion and your efforts in collecting all these data!!! ♥♥♥

A Butterfly Sanctuary Inside An Airport!

Great Egg Fly (Hypolimnas bolina)

If you ever get the chance to fly to Singapore, do not be in a hurry to rush to the immigration counters. Stay in the transit area instead, because there is a mini butterfly sanctuary right next to you in the airport!

Yep you heard me right! The Butterfly Garden is located at Changi Airport Terminal 3 (Transit), where it houses some 47 species of butterflies found during different periods of the year.

During my recent trip to Bangkok, I'm glad I ran over to visit this garden despite my tight schedule. I only had about 5 minutes to grab whatever footage I could, so pardon the quality and tardiness of the video haha. >_<

When I first walked into the garden, the first thing I noticed was the change in temperature. There is no air-con in the sanctuary (probably to let the flutters stay warm and fuzzy), but the waterfall and wooden floor boards help to keep the place cool.

As mentioned in the video, one of the best highlights of this garden is that there are several feeding corners that allows you to see the butterflies up close. These feeding corners provide an alternate source of nutrition for the adult butterflies. Filled with fresh fruits and flowers, they supplement the natural nectar produced by flowering plants. You can observe the beautiful flutters while the moths and butterflies drink away, and if you seem friendly enough, one of them may even decide to fly and land on you! xD

Atlas Moth (Attacus atlas)

Autumn Leaf (Doleschalia bisaltide)

Plain Blue Crow (Euploea modesta)

There is also a chamber where it houses all the pupa and chrysalis. It is funny how they line them up in rows, reminds me of how we try to breed an 'army' of butterflies in Flutter!  "Egg-Layers! Fall in!" :P

A Great Mormon (Papilio mernon) drying its wings

You can learn more about the butterflies at the Education Corners all around the garden. There are also breeding corners where specially selected host plants are available for butterflies to lay their eggs on. The next time you visit this garden, see if you can spot an egg or a caterpillar munching away in the leaves!

How to get there?

The Butterfly Garden is located inside the Transit area of Changi Airport Terminal 3, so you need to be actually flying to or from Singapore to be able to access this area. This means you need a plane ticket and a boarding pass.

If you are flying to Singapore:
Stay in the transit area! Do not clear immigration yet because once you do, you will have to leave the transit area and proceed to pick up your luggages.

If you are flying from Singapore:
Try to check in early so you have ample time to explore Changi Airport before your flight. (Changi Airport is not the world's best airport for nothing! Hee hee... xD)

The Butterfly Garden is beside the viewing gallery (where you can do plane spotting through their glass walls, and there are tons of comfy sofas and several massage chairs so you can't miss it).

If you are at a different terminal, you can board a Sky Train to terminal hop within the transit area in Changi Airport.

Allright, that's all for now~! If you have any questions feel free to ask me, I'll try to help in any way I can. Hope you enjoyed this post, and Bon Voyage~! xD

Playing With Sona Event Decos

I thought that I should grab the chance to take more screenshots before the dazzling aurora goes away, so here are a couple of pictures that I would like to share with you~!

Climbing the aurora with a clover trail

More clovers everywhere~!

If you are more of a 'crescent moon' fan, remember to take your screenshots before the moon phase is over! xD

Sunday 19 March 2017

Hello from Bangkok! Here's a yummy flutter...

I am in the middle of a holiday trip, and saw this mouth watering mango sorbert ice-cream sold at one of the street stores in Chatuchak. I immediately thought of you guys when I spotted it, so I decided to buy one in order to share the cuteness. xD

I went ahead and took a bite on behalf of all of you! xD

Do you feel that the whole thing looks like a yellow caterpillar? Hee hee... It is sold at all Annette ice cream Tuk Tuks in Bangkok. (Something like Bangkok's version of an ice cream truck).

Here is another flutter haul from Thailand! I bought a necklace ornament at one of the night market shops in Asiatique The Riverfront. They claimed that it is 99% silver...

Update: I bought another flutter accessory! I spotted this lovely ring at one of the stores in MBK Center. (Sidetrack: Gosh this place is a shopping heaven! Where else can you buy a pair of sport shoes for 199 Baht? That's less than 6 USD!)

I felt that the price for a 'rose gold' ring (300 Baht after haggling) was still a little expensive, but I knew that I had to get it!

So pretty right? xD

I have several other amazing flutters to share, hopefully I can get to it after I fly back!
