Android: Clearing Game Data To Free Up Storage Space

If you noticed that your Starlight game is taking up a huge chunk of space on your device, maybe it is time to clear and re-download the game data to free up some storage space.

As you play the game, miscellaneous game data are stored in your device (logs, video ads etc). These data chunks accumulate over time and it would be a good idea to spring clean your device once in a while.

The 2 methods I use to clear unwanted app space are clearing Cache and clearing Data.

Clear Cache

Refer to a previous guide here on how to clear your game cache.

Clear Data

Please make sure you have a strong Wifi connection before proceeding to clear your game data. Re-downloading all the app updates is quite data hungry!

1) Close your game and go to your device Settings and select Apps / Applications Manager

2) Tap on Starlight

3) For newer devices you may need to tap on the Storage option

4) Click on Clear Data

5) After you click on Clear Data, you should see that the counter for Data is reset to 0.00 B.

6) Launch Starlight and it will automatically re-download all the app updates. After you log into Starlight, check back and you should see that the game now takes up considerably less storage space on your device!

If you do not clear your data periodically, you may sometimes find that the game takes up a lot of space. Some players have complained about their game being more than 1GB!

Here are some other screenshots from my tab to show how much space I could free up by clearing data:

Before cleating game data: 378 MB

After clearing game data: 261MB
That's a difference of 117MB!

For iOS Users

Unfortunately for iOS users, you have to manually delete and reinstall the app to free up storage space.

For more details, refer to Step 2 of the guide on Macworld here.

For Android users, the same effect also applies if you delete and re-install the app from Google Play.

Ameku Firefly Event: Moth Set and Deco Abilities

Moth Set

#115 Buck's Plume Moth

#116 Pearly Wood-nymph

#117 Major Sallow

#118 Ceanothus Silkmoth

#119 Giant Leopard Moth

Decoration Rewards & Abilities

A cosmetic deco that lets your moth fly at superman speeds!

****
This deco lets you re-roll your current mission to another mission in the same tier (Easy, Intermediate or Hard). For more information on how missions in Starlight work, refer to this guide.

This deco is perfect to raise your chances of landing on a Zodiac flower mission!

(Only use this deco BEFORE you send a moth out on a mission. If you use the deco after you begin your mission, your game may be bugged and you will lose the moth.)

Lets you save a bit of time hatching your eggs, but with good time management this deco is not necessarily a must have.

Limited Store Purchase

Available during the Ameku Event only
Considering that 5 event fireflies already cost 50 Glowbucks, this store purchase seems to be a pretty sweet deal for collectors who want a copy of everything!

This decoration ability allows you to swap between the blue glowing mushrooms and orange chanterelles in your forest.

The chanterelles look yummy... but I still prefer the blue glowing mushrooms as they fit the night theme perfectly. xD

Ameku Event Update. What's New In v1.34

(This post is backdated to the day of game update.)

Yay~! 'Spoiler' event banners are back for this update! We get to have a sneak peek of some of the pretty moths that will be released in the coming Ameku Event! <3

New game logo

I <3 Sunflowers!

Flutterpedia Updates

The Flutterpedia is updated with a new section for the Ameku event decoration rewards.

The Summer Special Shop Pack will be available in the shop during the event too.

Save up some Glowbucks if you think you want to buy it!
(Previous event hampers were priced at 100 Glowbucks.)

Game Updates

Here is a summary of what is new in the update:

GUI Updates

I might have missed this out during the previous update in v1.33, but the Visiting Moth icon has a new remake! I think this is pretty neat. xD

Not sure if it is a bug, but there might have been changes to the Visiting Moth system, because I got these 2 visitors over 2 consecutive days even when I did not buy any eggs. I will update the Visiting Moths guide when I find out more.

Language Updates

My wish has been heard! *throws confetti* We can now choose our preferred language for Starlight! To change your language, just tap the Gear icon to open up your Settings menu, and click on Language.

Sweet huh? xD

Removal of Offers Wall

Kere Harding from Flutter Dynasty gave us a heads up that Runaway has decided to take down the Offers Walls form Starlight.

Screenshot by Kere Harding

This applies to v1.34 onwards, so if you have not updated your game from Google Play or the App Store, this is you last chance to earn some free Glowbucks from the Offers Wall before we all have to move on with the new game version.

We will miss the Offers Wall icon~ :(
Hopefully Runway will come up with other features for FTP players to earn some free Glowbucks in future.
