Saving Your Game Data

Missing eggs? Disappearing wisps? Timers reset? Are your attraction flowers vanishing?

If you log into your game and find that you have a bunch of missing progress, it could be due to your game data not being saved properly on Runaway's servers.

The game saves your progress automatically every 20 seconds or so, therefore your progress should be updated constantly as you play your game.

Source: Starlight Helpshift

It is pretty obvious that you need a good internet connection for your game, however, it is also understandable that sometimes these things aren't within our control, and your game progress might not get synced with the servers automatically when the connection gets weak.

Sometimes it does not make sense for us to pause and wait for 20 seconds just to make sure that our data is saved. That 20 seconds is a long dreary wait and we will probably continue to tap on other things in the game anyway... and that means you have to wait another 20 seconds to save your latest progress? -_-

How do I make sure my game progress is 100% up to date?

The only way to make sure that your game is definitely synced onto the servers is to let your game do a 'Forced Save'. A forced save happens when you perform certain actions which triggers the game to save your game data onto the server. Currently, there are 2 ways to do a forced save in Starlight.

1) Exit your game via the game menu (Android users)

1. Press the 'Back' button on your device.  Most Android devices have a physical 'Back' button on their screen.

2. After you have tapped on the 'Back' button, a pop-up in Starlight will appear asking if you want to quit the game. Click the Tick button to say yes.

3. The game then proceeds to SAVE your game before exiting .

If you see that the game is not exiting even after you have confirmed that you want to quit the game, this means that your internet connection is weak and the game is still trying to establish a connection with the servers to attempt to save your progress.

If that happens, you can wait a while to see if the attempt is successful. Or you can press the Home button on your device and try to fix your internet connection yourself (reconnect your WIFI / 4G Data etc), then go back to your game once more. If your connection is back and secure, the game should detect your connection and immediately perform a save before exiting.

If the game fails to save your progress, it will not exit the app. Instead, you should get an error notification.

Do note that this method only works if you exit the game via their game menu. Force closing the app via the Task Manager or swiping Starlight off your task switcher will only cause you to lose your latest game progress!

2) Log out of your Facebook account within the game menu

This is an alternative option suggested by Lizzie Flutter from Flutter DYNASTY. For those who are iOS users, or those who do not have a 'Back' button on their device, you may want to try this instead.

1. Click on the Gear icon on the top left corner of your game screen.

2. Click on 'Settings'.

3. Select 'Logout'.

4. Click on the Tick button to confirm that you want to log out.

5. The game then proceeds to SAVE your progress before going back to the opening screen.

Your flutters are now in safe hands~! xD

Blossom Event: Easter Basket Decoration (Shop)

A big thank you to all the members in Flutter DYNASTY and those who PMed me to let me know what flower drops they had from the Easter Basket Decoration! ♥♥♥

What does the Easter Basket do?

Bumblebee photobomb~ lols xD

It spawns a teal Easter Egg in your forest, and has a cooldown of 4 days.

When you open the Easter Egg, you get a random flower (predetermined).

If you are still wondering if you should purchase the decoration, I would say that it is a pretty good buy for newer players who have yet to complete their core sets in Starlight. Why?

1) Region flowers from the Easter Egg will always be something you need

Region flowers from Toad Delicacies and Shop Deals will only be produced if you have uncompleted core sets. The Easter Basket decoration also works in a similar way where it may give you Region flowers for any of the core sets you have yet to perfect.

This means there is a very high chance that the Easter Basket Decoration will produce a useful flower!

2) List of possible Flower drops from the Easter Egg

  • 100% Rare
  • 50% Epic
  • 20% Legendary
  • 100% Medium
  • 100% Large
  • 20% Lunar
  • 100% Silva
  • 20% Chausiku
  • 20% Estrella
  • 10% Mythic
  • 20% Apoyo

You have till the end of the Blossom Event to purchase your own Easter Basket. Don't miss this opportunity~!

What's New in v1.30!

Here is a list of cool stuff that is available in version 1.30 of Flutter: Starlight!

1) Blossom Wisp Event

A whole new set of Easter Moths are up for grabs during the Blossom Wisp Event! You can check out some sneak peeks and details of the new moths and decoration abilities here.

2) Hidden Easter Egg Hunt

During the Blossom event, hidden Easter Eggs will spawn in your forest. You can find 3 hidden eggs per day, each packed with tiny surprises! If you are having trouble finding the eggs, refer to this guide here for some tips.

3) New Gifting Feature, Buy Gifts For Your Friends!

Not long ago we had good news where friend gifting was re-introduced in Flutter. Now it is available in Starlight too!

You can now buy gifts from the shop and send them directly to your friends! Simply click on the item in the shop and click on the Gift icon to select which friend you would like to gift. Currently you can send Daily Deals and Bumble Bees to your friends.

Note: Make sure to send out the free social gifts from your Friends list before you buy a gift for a friend. If not the gift that you paid for will be counted as a "free gift sent" and 1 free gift will be deducted from your current amount of free gifts available.

4) Flutterpedia Updates

There is a new Table of Contents in the Flutterpedia! Simply flip to the very first page to get a summary of your game progress.

A new Creatures chapter is also added! This is similar to what we have in Flutter, where you can unlock page segments by collecting creatures in the game.

5) New Language Update

Thanks æ˜Žèµµ from Flutter DYNASTY for the heads up that the game is now available in Mandarin! To see how it looks like, simply change your device's default language to Mandarin and reload the game.

However there is a bug in the current Mandarin version of Starlight, where the Social Menu is missing and you cannot access your Friends list. In order to open your Friends list you need to switch back to the English version of the game.

It seems like Runaway may getting ready to translate the game into other languages! Raquel Delgado Boluda posted in Flutter DYNASTY that there are missing translations for her game when her default device language is Spanish. I've tried to change my device's default language several times and I saw that there are missing translations for Korean too! Hopefully Starlight will be able to cater to a wider international audience soon~!

Blossom Event: Hidden Easter Egg Hunt!

The Blossom event kick starts today~!

For the next 14 days, hidden eggs will spawn all over your forest. Click on them to reveal a surprise gift.

You can get storage expansion materials, 5 Honeydew, toad treats, coins, a golden net etc, or even 5 Glowbucks if you are lucky enough!

If you are having a hard time finding the hidden eggs, check the surrounding foliage areas of your forest. You may also want to increase the brightness of your device screen as the eggs tend to camouflage pretty well.

Lana Rebecca Vaughan from Flutter DYNASTY suggested that you can move your forest over the moon to illuminate the eggs a little better. The game also has several bright spots where you can make use of during your hunt.

Brightness and contrast is adjusted for this screenshot to help you to spot the eggs easier

Do not confuse the Easter Egg Hunt with the Easter Bucket Decoration which is currently for sale in the shop. Although the description says that the decoration will create "hidden eggs", what it actually does is that it spawns a large egg gift in your forest (similar to the halloween Jack O' Lantern or Large Jolly Gift). A list of flower rewards from the Easter decoration will be posted soon.

The hidden eggs seem to spawn quite often, so keep looking out for them! Have fun~! xD

Maybe we can get at least 3 eggs per day? xD

Take Fast And Clean Screenshots In Starlight (Android)

Have you ever felt frustrated when you cannot snap the perfect screenshot in Starlight because of the dreary lag time? Or do you feel that it is so inconvenient to press and hold several buttons just to take a screenshot on your device?

This guide aims to help Android users take the perfect moth seflie!

How to take Fast screenshots on Android devices

1) Go to the Google Play store and search for Screenshot Touch.
(There are other similar apps in the Android market as well, but I am recommending this because so far it has worked well for me.)

2) Download and launch it. Tap on "Delay before capture" and select "No delay".

3) You can also adjust other settings like image format and quality. If you want to adjust the display resolution in your game itself, refer to this guide instead. Once you are happy with your settings, hit "Start capture monitoring service".

4) Go back to Starlight (or any other game/app). You should be able to see a camera icon floating on top of your game.

5) You can click and drag the camera overlay icon around the screen. If you feel that the icon is too small and hard to tap, you can also adjust the icon size by clicking on "Overlay icon size" in Screenshot Touch.

6) To take screenshots, simply tap on the camera overlay icon! You should now be able to take screenshots instantly! Do not worry about the overlay icon because it will not appear in any of your saved screenshots.

The camera overlay icon will not appear in the screenshots you take

As there is no longer a lag time, you can now easily time your screenshots to how you want it! You will never have to worry about missing out on capturing a Beefly giggle or a butterfly pose ever again! xD

How to take Clean screenshots without game menu icons

Your coins and Glowbucks are displayed on the top left corner of your game. There are also icons on the bottom of the screen. When you tap on a moth, their details will also be shown.

If you do not want these extra details in your picture, it is possible to take a clean screenshot without them! Simply click on a blank area of your forest and wait for a moment. The user interface will then disappear and you can proceed to take your screenshot.

A cleaner screenshot without the game menu and icons

Have fun capturing the precious moments in your game~! :)

Adjust Your Display Resolution For Games In Samsung Devices

When I updated my Samsung Tab to Android 6, the first thing I noticed is that my image resolution dropped drastically when I launched my games. It seems that for some Samsung devices, the display resolution for games is reduced by default.

This is bad news for some of us, especially when we like to take high resolution screenshots to show off the beauty of the moths and butterflies in our games.

If you are affected by this, here is one method you can try to get back your high quality graphical gaming experience!

How to adjust your display resolution for Starlight / Flutter / any other games in Samsung Devices

1) Go to the Galaxy Apps store or the Google Play store and search for Game Tuner.

2) Download and launch it. Then click on the Gear icon for the game that you want to adjust.

3) Under "Resolution Ratio", adjust the slider bar to the max at 100% (or adjust it to any other value that you want).

4) When you are done, go back and launch your game. For Starlight / Flutter, you may have to re-download your game updates/assets if you have selected a higher resolution.

5) Once you enter the game, tadaaaa~! Enjoy your high resolution display~!

You can also play around with Game Tuner to adjust your settings for frame rates, texture quality, set custom modes etc. If you think that the games are taking a toll on your device, you can reduce your settings for a smoother gameplay.

Lastly, I also noticed that Game Tuner has helped to fix my graphical glitches in both Starlight and Flutter. If you are experiencing a weird mosaic Picasso-like game, and re-installing the game does not seem to help, you may want to try Game Tuner to fix your game display settings and get your game back on track.

Yikes! A graphical glitch! (Screenshot by Cherish PikaShy Teaney, Flutter DYNASTY)
